Use existing environments¶

Exercise: open a minimal environment from a link

A minimal example for those who has experience with terminal

Follow this link.
Authenticate yourself.
The mydocker dashboard appears briefly.
A new tab opens with a terminal in a minimal Linux environment where you are an administrator.
Go to the mydocker dashboard (previous tab) and click on «Open the environment». You get a second terminal on the same environment.
(Bonus) Type some shell commands.
(Bonus) Temporarily install some software:
```
apk add nano
```
Return to the mydocker dashboard and shut down the environment.

Exercise: Open an existing course from a link

Follow this link
MyDocker opened an environment with JupyterLab and Python, and has downloaded an introductory Python course (from a git repository), and opened the course’s welcome document.
Bonus: explore this course for a few minutes
Bonus: open a terminal and temporarily install a conda package with
```
mamba install numpy
```
Return to the dashboard and shut down the environment

Exercise: Sharing an environment

Retrieve the URL of the chosen environment. For example, by right-clicking -> copy URL from the list of environments in the mydocker documentation. This URL should be in the form
```
https://mydocker.../join/XXXXX
```

where XXX identifies the chosen environment 2. Distribute this link to the recipients by any means of your choice: email, web page, ...
